Mark was a treasure. I am a former PTSA President of Ridgeview Middle School. I would see and talk to Mark almost daily. Always a smile, always a professional. Such a wonderful man to the students.

I then became a Substitute Teacher at Quince Orchard....Mark would stand outside my classes to make sure everything was okay for me. He was that kind of person.

His relationships with the students was extraordinary..He just had "that way".

I was just visited by my QO and Ridgeview Alum daughter and her friend who is a teacher, and told them a great story about Mark. Just last week.

He will be so missed....

God Bless Him! God Bless His Family!

To The Harding Family,
Mark was an amazing man and he was a great friend who I will never forget. He always had me laughing about something. I know he loved the Quince Orchard High School Community very much. He is a true "Cougar" and will always be in the hearts of many. I will miss our talks and laughs and going to Pelican Pete's and listening to his BBQ adventures. You are all in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
God Bless You Mark and All your Family

To the Harding Family,

I will miss my friend, classmate, teamate and lifelong companion. He and I grew up together and Mark and I had some wonderful times together. From times when we drove around in my 1967 Dodge Dart going across old Scott Dr. from your house to ours we encountered some crazy things. We then entered into the field of Law Enforcement together and now I am working for the Schoolboard, we have gone full circle. He attended my retirement party and I was so happy to see him that we had to take a picture together and I will cherish that photo. He is in my heart and I loved the big "MOOSE".

He is with our dads now playing sports, fishing and hunting I am sure.

With much love,

Bo Curry and Family

Dear Harding family- I was so sorry to hear the very sad news about Mark. I know we will all miss him very much at QOHS- he was such a good guy! Any time Mark came to my classroom to "round up" someone, I knew that Mark would be stern, but not too gruff...the kids all liked him and felt that he was their advocate. What a loss for us all! My deepest condolences. Carol Kempner

Harding Family -
Please know that Mark always was a kind and gentle man - ''A big lovable bear'' - I've known him since high school and will never forget the ''Little Golden Book of Friendship'' he gave to me (which I still have and cherish). I'm going to miss our daily emails! He seemed to just know when I needed a smile! He'll be smiling down on all of us now :) - RIP Mark! 143 Kim (Aloi) Saveri

To The Harding Family,

I had Mark as a student at RMHS....I have a lot of good memories...not only was he a good student, he was also a great guy. After graduating...Mark kept in touch and became a good friend. Time and distance made contact intermittent...but just last summer he made a visit with us in Southern MD. It was great fun catching up and talking about the old days. We will miss him.

Dear Harding Family,

I had the pleasure of working with Mark both at Ridgeview and at Quince Orchard High schools. I will miss his laugh. He always had a chuckle to give to end a conversation. You are most fortunate to have had Mark as a family member. We are most fortunate to have had a part of him in our lives.

Dear Harding Family,

When I look back at the school activites of my two girls at Ridgeview and at QO, Mr. Harding was right there. Supporting middles school dances, whether the kids liked it or not; Directing traffic in the QO parking lot and telling the kids to hurry up before the bell rings, fussing at them for walking into school without a coat on a snowy day, or watching ALL of their home volleyball games. If I needed to know how any of my kids were doing, I knew I could call Mr. Harding and he always asked about the kids.

My family and I will keep him alive in our hearts!

To the entire family and extended friends of Mark. Words cannot express the loss we are feeling. Mark was so much a part of our everyday life! I cannot tell you how much we will miss that wonderful laugh he had, and the sparkel in his eyes when he spoke about his family, friends and life adventures. Oh how he loved his family! ... We feel blessed to have been able to call him friend. Actually he was more than a friend he was a big part of our family! Lonnie will dearly miss his traveling buddy, and teller of their hunting and fishing stories. I will miss him and I swapping recipes. He never could get my the beef tenderloin right! He found his own way to make a dynamite deer tenderloin. I have no doubt he's looking down on us saying LIFE IS GOOD. We love the time we had with him and will cherish every memory. I know he has his arms wrapped around all of us.

Dear Harding Family,

I am so glad that you all have each other. What a wonderful supporting family you are! I have known Mark for 16 years and always knew him as a fantastic man. Loving his kids and their friends, his siblings and parents openly and proudly. His generosity of spirit has touched so many of us in this world. I will always remember him at our campsite cooking barbeque or breakfast! He was a wonderful cook!

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Knowing Mark has been an absolute pleasure. God Bless you all.

Sincerely,
Kate Baker

To the Harding Family,
I am very sad about Mark’s passing. He was the “salt of the earth” type person truly, one of my friends and a good buddy. Mark left a positive footprint where ever he went. His dedication to the QO community was second to none. You have so much to be proud of.

Mark, I will miss all of our “antics” and PoPo stories. We became friends while talking at all of the football games I worked. I feel very fortunate knowing my daughter’s safety was in your hands and you would be there if she ever needed help at Ridgeview and then at QO. Even more importantly during those years I gained an awesome friend. The 15 years we have been friends seems like just a few days. It is a friendship I will always treasure. I will miss May’s, Liberty Rd., Roy’s Place and our weekly dinner before a QO football game. I even forgive you for not being a Yankees fan.

10-40, 10-41, 10-07. RNA forever! Be at peace my friend and watch over the rest of us.

Dear Harding family,

I was overcome by the news of Mark's passing. Just the day before we chatted via Facebook and he was so looking forward to the new school year. As other QOHS colleagues have expressed, Mark could always be counted on by staff and students alike and was the smiling face that met me every morning. He stood by my preschool whenever we had an event or incident and made everyone feel special. I hear him calling out "Life is GOOD!" even now. He helped make that statement true and will be greatly missed. He is in my prayers, as are all of you.

Fondly,

Kathye Mangene

Dear Harding Family.......

First, we would like to offer our condolences for the loss of a great man. All three of us had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Harding all four years we attended Quince Orchard High School. We remember not a day went by that Mr. Harding did not greet us with a smile and a high five when we arrived at school...most likely late! From class room sweeps to fire drill, Mr. Harding always ensured we were safe and on our best behavior. He may have been a tough cookie at times, but he always kept us on the straight and narrow. Football games, talent shows, and even graduations, Mr. Harding never missed an event and always cheered us cougars to a victory! Even though our days at Quince Orchard are behind us, we look back on the memories we shared with Mr. Harding and always remember his smile and his famous saying..."Life is Good!" Harding Family, you are in our thoughts and prayers and God Bless.

Sincerely,
Michelle, Michael, and Troy Jr

Dear Harding Family,

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Mr. Harding was such a wonderful supporter, always provided encouragement, and was incredibly dedicated to his students. He saw some of us, myself included, grow up from tiny middle school kids to college grads. He filled the role of everyone's biggest fan, always showing up to many different sporting events, and knew just what to say if you were feeling down. He will be deeply missed and I will never forget the role he played in my life. QO lost a great supporter, who played an intrical part in the community.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

Sincerely,
Alyssa

The first thinbg I will do is thanking the Harding family to share my brother, Mark, with children and staff of Montgomery County Public Schools. I honorably represented Mark as the Vice President of the security chapter of SEIU/Local 500. Mark could always be counted to support and idea (with a grain of salt) and think "out of the box". After a few years, Mark and I talked and his years with PGCPD came up. As I served in the Air Force at Andrews, we talked of those who had passed such as Mark Murphy and others. As we begin another school year, I will know that Mark is still walking the halls and handling the needs of the students only from a different location. RIP my brother Mark

Dear Harding family~

We were so sorry to hear the very sad news about Mark. He will always be remembered as the bright smile and warm welcome of QOHS.

Both of our kids played sports at QO and Mark was always at their games cheering them on. I especially enjoyed our early morning BBQ setup for the lacrosse end-of-year party where he gave me lots of pointers on the "art of BBQ-ing" and his love of hunting.

Mark was a "Cougar" through and through and will be missed by so many at QO.

With our deepest sympathy,

Dear Harding family,

Mark was always a positive force for me and my family at Q.O. From his daily greeting to me and my daughters of "Hello, Ms. Hardinge" (we always shared a chuckle on sharing the same name and the rumors that started!) to his help in the classroom with any problem or really with any of his thoughtful and respectul ways, Mark provided endless support and good will. We shall miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Harding family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Life at Quince Orchard high school will not be the same without Mark's pleasant smile and cheerful attitude. He was often the first person I would see when I arrived at school every morning, and I will never forget his uplifting greeting and friendly smile as I entered the building, "Good morning, Ms. R." May he rest in peace.

Dear Harding family,

I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a great human to walk this earth. Mr. Harding was one of the biggest fans of our school's volleyball team, and every single girl on it. He was one of the most well respected and well known people in the entire school. He made every person in the school feel special. It's a shame he couldn't see my younger sister (and future volleyball player) go through high school and be there for her; but I know he will watch over and help guide her on the right path just like he did to everyone of us at Quince Orchard.

My condolences,
Morgan

Dear Harding Family,

My condolences to you on your heartbreaking loss. The entire Quince Orchard extended community has lost a warm, spirited man with amazing character and strength, and the biggest heart.

I knew Mr. Harding a long time, from the Ridgeview years through two kids at QOHS. As a parent, I always felt reassured that my kids were safer and more loved with Mr. Harding in their lives. He was the first face that I saw most mornings when I went through the carpool line at QO, and rain or shine, he always had a wave, a smile, a twinkle in his eye, and a kind word. Several mornings a week I would bring him a travel cup with cider in the fall, hot cocoa in the winter and lemonade in the spring, and his appreciation went WAY beyond that small gesture.

I'm unbearably sad that I'll never have that morning "moment" with Mr. Harding again. I'll never forget the way he made all our lives better for having known him.

PEACE,
Sandy Krems
