Daniel Alain Vail, 19, of Mt. Airy, MD was taken from his family and friends on January 10, 2013. Daniel was the beloved son of Vallery Michelle Vail of Mt. Airy, MD and Joel Alain Heilmann of Wheaton, MD.
Daniel graduated from South Carroll High School in 2011 where he was loved and respected by friends, faculty, and fellow Cavalier football teammates.  Daniel began his interest in sports playing hockey in Frederick.  His interest changed to football when he joined the MAYAA football league.
Daniel was a sales person at Radio Shack and quickly earned top sales.  He was IT savvy and had a knack for computers and technology.  He was sought out for his expertise in setting up security surveillance systems for small businesses.   He was most recently employed at the Ridgeville Service Center.  
Daniel was a gentle, kind, loving, and a respectful young man.  He loved his animals; his cat Jaxx and his dog Charlie.  He was an avid reader; loved history and a good debate.  He especially enjoyed being at home with family and friends.
Daniel is survived by his mother and father, grandparents Suzan Vail and Vernon Vail, sister Charity Heilmann, aunt Tracy Vail Pauter, uncle Tommy Pauter, cousins Francine and Andrew, and numerous extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his aunt, Sandra Lynn Vail and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Denise Heilmann.  
The family will receive friends from 6-9pm on Tuesday January 15, 2013 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Road, Mt. Airy where services will be held 11:00am on Wednesday January 16, 2013. Reverend Tim May will officiate.  Interment will be in Boyds Presbyterian Cemetery.  Those desiring may make memorial donations to the family to help defray funeral costs.
