Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Ropp, 93, of Frederick died on Wednesday, April 5, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was wife of the late Paul H. Ropp, Sr, who died in 1978.
Born on February 28, 1913, in Myersville, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Amanda Moser Myers. She was a homemaker, but most of all was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a great cook, especially her Sugar Cakes, and also enjoyed gardening. Mrs Ropp also worked at the cafeteria at Yellow Springs Elementary School for 11 years. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion in Middletown for over 50 years.
Surviving are 5 children: Paul H. Ropp, Jr and wife Cynthia of Charlesville, Barbara A. Sparkman and husband James of Thurmont, Shirley J. Ferguson and husband Michael of Yellow Springs, Ruth E. Warnock and husband Harold of Frederick and Nancy L. Bagent and husband Wayne of Braddock Heights; 7 grandchildren: Howard Sparkman and wife Kathy of Walkersville, Diane Grove and husband Alan of Boonsboro, Doris Bonner and husband Michael of Brunswick, Paul E. Ropp and wife Vikki of Walkersville, Richard Ropp and wife Karen of Frederick, John Bagent of Sharpsburg and Julie Hudgens of Thurmont; 10 great grandchildren: April and Sabrina Sparkman, Brandon Vaughn, Megan, Kyle and Caleb Grove, Dalton Hudgens, Madison and Justin Ropp and Jacob Bonner; a sister-in-law, L. Jane Cline of Frederick; numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Winifred Wareheim of Florida; as well as her constant feline friend and companion, Graybear.
Mrs Ropp was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren: Brian Lee Sparkman and Paula Ann Ropp; 5 brothers: Oscar L. Myers, Alvey Myers, Floyd H. Myers, Grayson E. Myers and Austin P. Myers; and 5 sisters: Annie Moser, Alta S. Faulders, Ethel M. Swomley, Mary E. Drake and Ruth V. Myers.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, April 7, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Services: Services will be held at the Funeral home at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 8, with Rev. Blaine Feightner of Rohrersville Lutheran Church officiating.
Interment will take place in Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown
