Pauline Kippen was born on December 19,1919 in Ahrenfeld, Russia. She was the only child of George Boxberger and Magdalena Mai Boxberger, ethnic Germans who escaped with Pauline from Russia through Poland and Germany after the Bolshevik Revolution. They entered the United States at Ellis Island in 1923 and joined relatives in WaKeeney, Kansas. Pauline's mother died in 1926.
After graduating from high school in WaKeeney, Pauline met Albert Kippen in Denver, Colorado, where they were married in 1942. She attended the University of Colorado. In 1950 they moved to Frederick, Maryland.
Pauline spent much of her career as a medical secretary and in Frederick worked for Dr. Charles Conley. Although she lived in six states and visited several countries, she resided in Frederick three different times for a total of 27 years.
Pauline enjoyed travel, gardening, cooking, children, friends, birds and animals. She was an avid reader and patron of C. Burr Artz Library. She was a devoted member of All Saint's Episcopal Church, where she belonged to the St. Elizabeth's and St. Mary's Guilds. She also served as a volunteer for Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Pauline passed away on June 3, 2006, following a long illness. She was 86.
She is survived by a son James Kippen and his wife Mary, a son John Kippen and his wife Barbara, and daughter Alicia Ann Kippen and her husband Louis Grachos. She has four grandchildren, Tara Stitely, Sarah Kippen, Julia Ferguson, and James Grachos. She has two great grandchildren, Katie Danner and James Stitely. Her surviving siblings are Esther Pugh, George William Boxberger, Elmer Boxberger, Jerry Boxberger and Ronald Boxberger. She was predeceased by sisters Ruphina Wilson and Sandra Duvall.

Services: A memorial service will be held at All Saint's Episcopal Church on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 11:00AM and will be followed by a reception at the church parish hall.
