Mr. Leland C. (Bubby) Bowman, 82 of Woodbine, Maryland died on Thursday, July 22, 2010. He was the husband of Doris (Ward) Bowman, his wife of 56 years.
Born, April 29, 1928 in Howard County he was the son of the late Augustus L. and Bessie Elizabeth Gillis Bowman.
He was a mechanic at Lisbon Farm Supply until he began a career with Howard County Government as a mechanic and welder. In 1992 he retired after 29 years of service.
Mr. Bowman was a Lifetime Member of the Lisbon Vol. Fire Company with 60 years of service.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, camping, and grilling for his family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Deb Bowman of Mt. Airy, Don Bowman and wife Jean and Rick Bowman all of Woodbine, his brother, Roby Bowman of Woodbine, his sister-in-laws, Dorothy Bowman of Woodbine, Violet Bowman of Florida, Eva Rice of Laurel and Alice Ingram of West Virginia. Mr. Bowman is also survived by his grandchildren: Christopher, Timothy, Matthew and Nicholas Bowman. 
He is preceded in death by his bothers, Lee, George, Gus, Dick, Stanley, Nicie, Benson and Basil and his sisters, Mary Francis and Ellen.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd. Mt. Airy on Monday, July 26th from 6:00-9:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 27th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company will hold a memorial service on Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 28th at 10:00 AM with Pastor Ken McDonald officiating.
Interment will be in Poplar Spring United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Lisbon Vol. Fire Company,
