So sorry to hear of Mr. Gant's passing. I first met Richard in the early 60's when I went to work at SO Division at Fort Detrick. I remember him as this wonderful, kind and sweet gentleman. What a great chef he was. I remember a time at work when someone brought me a piece of meat (that I thought was roast beef) and thought it tasted out of this world. Come to find out it was bear meat. Well if anyone could make bear meat taste that good, he was one heck of a cook. Rest in peace, Richard.

Dick/Kay: I want to express my sympathies to you and your family over the loss of Dick's Dad, Richard. I had the pleasure of working with Richard at Microbiological Associates facility in Walkersville in the early 70's. Not only did I learn some microbiology from him, I also learned what a creative cook he was. He turned out some wonderful meals during the lunch hour using the autoclave as a pressure cooker. I especially recall a chili he made one day. I can almost taste it. I just wanted to share with you this memory of Richard. He had a great dignity about him as well as a "down home" demeanor that let you get close to him.

Most sincerely,
Bill Lebherz

So sorry to hear about my old neighbor. The Carrollton Drive Crew s dwindling down. I will always remember Mr. Gant always having an unusal breed of dogs that I was always afraid of. Especially the one with the black tongue.

He is now reunited with Miss Ada. God Bless them both

Dear Dick,
So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing, although it seems like your Dad had a very long, full, and interesting life. I still have my parents around but don't know for how much longer. Not many of us have parents still living and I feel very fortunate. You were always a treasure to have around and I get the impression that your Dad had that same effect on people around him.

Take care and know that your Dad is in a better place.

Dear Brenda and Family,
Although we regret that we cannot be with you this weekend, we still wanted to let you know that our special thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Uncle Richard was loved by so many and God blessed him with such a long and productive life and a wonderful long-term marriage to Aunt Ada.
Both our parents and Aunt Ada are in heaven and now Uncle Richard is with them. He is in God's hands and is at peace. You cared for him so lovingly. You have given your best, and now you can say “ It is well with my soul”.
May God continue to surround you, Richard, Jr. and Charlotte with His love.
Blessings,
Cousin Donna Gant-Oden and Jesse Oden

Brrenda, Charlotte, Dick, I saw Richards picture in the paper a year ago, and wanted to get in touch with him. I wanted to let him know what a wonderful close family he and you Mom raised. If we had parents like them today, our world would be a better place. It was a real joy working with all of you, such fond memories..

Dear Dick and Kay,
My heart goes out to you both. I'm sure you know how much your Dad meant to me and I wasn't with you today because I have been in the hospital for a week and I couldn't go out on my first day home. Please believe me, I was with you in spirit if not in person.
Love, Sylvia

I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Gant's passing. Some of my fondest childhood memories revolve around the times that Mr. Richie and Miss Ada were in my parent's home cooking up their magic. They were both lovely, gracious, gentle souls who are, and will be, deeply missed. My condolences to each of you on your loss.
Fondly,
Barbara

Most of you would not know me however I wanted you to know what a great man your father and grandfather was. I was just a "Kid" when I new Dick. I worked at "Micro" from '69-'78. We all were one big happy family and he was a big part of that family. I have lost both my parents so my deepest sympathy is with you. May you hold those memories close and have comfort that he is in a place where there is no more pain and sorrow. With love and Gods blessing.
