Claudia M. Fegler, 50, of Mount Airy, MD passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC. Born April 26, 1963 in New Jersey, she is preceded in death by her father, Claude M. Surdi and sister, Lynn Rossi . She is survived by her mother, Joan A. Terwilleger, brother, Russell Surdi, husband David Fegler, daughter, Marcella Fegler, and son, David Fegler.

Claudia will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother and best friend. Claudia was the best wife, mother and best friend a family could ask for. She was always the type of person who put others before herself.  Although Claudia was a great wife and loving mother to two children, many individuals viewed her as a second mother, knowing if they ever needed someone to talk to, she was always there to help out in any way. Even though Claudia has passed, she is now with her father and sister.  We know she'll be with us every step of the way from here on out, making sure we are safe.  God has gained a beautiful angel and we know she is no longer in pain. Claudia was so loving, caring and such a strong independent woman.  Her outgoing personality, warm smile and dancing feet left a beautiful mark on this world that will never be forgotten. We know this is not a goodbye, but rather a see-you-later.

Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mount Airy, MD 21771 from 2-4 & 6-9 PM on Sunday, January 12 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014, 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Parish, 1125 St Michael`s Road, Mount Airy, MD 21771. Father Michael Ruane will officiate. Inurnment will be private. Online Condolences may be shared with the family at www.staufferfuneralhome.com

Many years have passed since I've last seen Claudia, but even the miles apart and the years between cannot take away the lasting impression that Claudia will leave in my heart. She was one of the most beautiful woman I've ever known (both inside and out). A true blessing to all that knew her. Rest in Peace my friend.

My beautiful Aunt Claud,
Words cannot describe how heart broken I am to know that you are gone. You were an amazing mother, wife, daughter, aunt, and friend. You had a heart of gold and would drop anything you were doing to help someone in need. I admired you for your strength, courage, and heart of gold. I am proud and honored to carry your name for the rest of my life. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel. Give poppy and aunt lynn a kiss for me. I know that you will always be with us all as we continue the journey of life. This is not a goodbye, but a see you later. Rest easy in paradise girlfriend.
Love you always and forever,
Your Niece Claudia

Although we've not yet had the chance to meet, my deepest sympathies to Dave and family on Claudia's untimely passing. At 50, Cluadia was in the prime of her life and too young to have passed. I'm sure your cherished memories of Claudia will keep her alive in your hearts and minds forever.

Dear David, Marcella, & Dave:
I knew your mom through the insruance business. I was a sales rep for both GBS & CareFirst. I can't tell you just how wonderful a person she was. I will always remember how supportive she was when I had cancer 11 years ago.
Phone calls & visits to my home in Baltimore were just the thing she would do to provide comfort and care.
I will fondly remember coming to your home for training and ending up on the deck with her speaking about what her children were doing at school & oh yes, we can't forget Dave & his ice hockey travels!!
I am really going to miss her smile. There was nothing like it. Her smile just lit up a room!
Please know that she loved all of you so very much.

Dave, "little" David, and Marcella,
Words can not express the sense of loss we feel and how sorry we are.
Your mom was one special lady.
She always had a "what's up Girlfriend?!" for you and always had a smile on her face.
We have great memories of her, and when we carry her with us, we will remember her great smile and sense of humor. It is an honor and privilege to have been able to call her "friend".
She will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathies to the Surdi and Fegler families. From the time I met Claudia in grade school there was always one thing that was always the same, she would have a smile on her face. As your families move thru the pain know she has touched a lot of friends thru the years. And a big thanks to Mrs. Surdi for allowing Claudia and Lynn to hang around with me and my brothers Rich & David. God bless

David, Marcella and Son David,

My heart is reaching out to each of you in more ways than you will ever know. Yes, in sympathy and many prayers, but also the fact that God allowed me the honor or meeting your lovely/wonderful Claudia/Mom! Generosity must truly run in your family, as not only was Claudia always there for others, as well as her family, but, you too Dave, helped out a total stranger at one of Linganore's Soccer games and I will never forget your kindness. Marcella, you keep up your strong character honey because always remember Mom is up there looking down and very proud. I am only sorry I have not had the honor of meeting young David as well. Some day hopefully under better circumstances.

May time be a source of healing for you each...and May God be holding each of you in His Arms to heal the sorrow that you feel.

Much love and God's blessings to get your through this sad time.

Dave, David, and Marcella,
We are saddened to hear that Claudia's journey here on earth has ended. Although it has been years since we were all friends that lived in the same neighborhood, every time we saw Claudia after you moved, she would be jogging, etc., and would be smiling, so full of life. We know that she fought a courageous battle, because she never did anything halfway, she was always all in. We know that the memories you have made with her will remain in your minds and hearts forever. We hope the memories will help get you through the toughest of time and the best of times, knowing that your lives are better for having had her in your life. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.
Love, Joe and Tami and the entire Craig Family

Dear Fegler family,
I just learned of Claudia's illness and passing. When we met during our walks here in Twin Ridge, she always asked about our family and we'd reminisce about watching MAYAA ball games together (I think Rusty & David played baseball together). Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
