To Earl's Family:
Bob and I met your dad about 40 years ago when we needed business insurance in Silver Spring, He helped so much, then Darrell came along and also helped us. I talked with Dad when I was working at the Funeral Home several years ago and we talked about old times. Please accept our sincere condolence in the loss of a very nice man.

My sincere condolences to the family. Oh I have many wonderful memories of Mr. Diehl. I was often at their house as I was one of the Vierling Drive FUN gang. Mr Diehl led the pack. One of the funniest was when Darrell had stopped by my house because Bob Scalley’s car was in the driveway. Darrell left his car running and Mr Diehl was doing his nightly walk around the block and decided to teach Darrell a lesson. He took the car and parked it back in his driveway. Darrell thought someone stole his car and Bobby drove him around looking for it until they finally spotted it in his own driveway. Many great memories to keep with us forever! He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Earl for a short time. He was a very nice man and will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Earl and Betty Diehl are two of the most loving and gracious people I have ever known. Their warmth towards one and all made them extremely effective greeters, ministering to one and all. Christ's love flowed out of them, and their constant interest in how to serve, uplift, and advance others was genuine. When the doors of the church were open, you could count on them to be there, and to make the event better. I remember Earl often requesting the hymn #55 in our hymnal, TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE! As their pastor for 14 years, they tremendously encouraged me, my wife, and my children. We treasure some of dear Betty's knitting and sewing blankets for our children when they were infants. We remember them kindly inviting us to their home, and it was always a joy to have them in our home. To be in their presence was a great gift, and to have them in our church home made it sweeter, more joyful, and more worshipful, full of love to Jesus Christ, who they treasured and devoted their lives to.

We knew your parents from FBC Waldorf. Though it has been many years, they will forever remain in our hearts and memories. Always had smiles and ready to give a helping hand. Truly the example to follow. Praying for your healing, comfort, strength and peace during this painful time. God bless your family. Chuck & Barbara Soule
