As a clock collector, John adored eccentric cuckoo clocks and antique grandfather clocks. He was also fond of trips to Florida with his son, David. As a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, John served as an usher for many years. He could often be found spending time with acquaintances at local establishments and riding his scooter around town. John also belonged to the American Legion Post 168 of Thurmont.
