Raleigh S. Boaze Jr., age 74, passed away on October 6, 2018. He was the husband of Janet Axline Boaze, his wife of 54 years and his high school sweetheart.

Born April 23, 1944 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of the late Raleigh S. Boaze Sr. and Mildred Unger Boaze.

Surviving him is his wife and daughter, Jodi Boaze Murphy, son-in-law Daniel Paul Murphy and two loving grandchildren, Paige Murphy and Owen Murphy. He is also survived by a brother, Ron Boaze, all of who he loved dearly.

Raleigh was a retired microbiological research lab technician who worked for the Federal Government for 40+ years.

He counted his many friends and blessings from God and thought dearly of them. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and set high standards for himself.

Since 1990, he was an avid scholar of the French and Indian War and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with everyone interested.

He was a member of several organizations: Monocacy Pistol Club, National Rifle Association, Life Member. The National Society Sons of the American Revolution and the Col. James Wood II Chapter of Winchester Va. Communications Officer of T. Clinton Hatcher, Camp 21, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Leesburg, VA. Life member of National Sons of Confederate Veterans, Life member of Virginia Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans.

As per his request there will be no funeral service locally. His cremains will be interred in the Boaze Family Cemetery, Dry Fork, VA and at the ancestral grave of his 5th Great Grandfather, Revolutionary War Patriot, Thomas Boaze.
