Received the Vigil Honor alongside brother Shawn in '05. Always kind and never too busy to share a thought or his time, he now finds his peace around the campfire of the Great Spirit. WWW

He will be missed! The impact he made is a part of my family and will always continue!
After we moved away from Shawn’s leadership, our boys continued to work and do hard things! Thank you for sharing and supporting Shawn, which in turn supported our family. The movie “Follow Me Boys”, became a favorite, thinking of Shawn after our experience with him. He lived well!! May you all find comfort in your memories and in Christ with your days ahead with out him. We can still do hard things, because we’ve been shown.
Hugs & love-
Greg, Taryn, Alivia, Taylor, (Jonathan- now with Shawn!) & Caroline Fairchild

Our family first met Shawn when our son Christopher attended the 2001 National Jamboree and Shawn was the 3rd Scoutmaster. We interacted with Shawn as the Scouts attended the pre-Jamboree training and then as Jim and I visited during the week and on the week-ends to visit the Jamboree and see the shows. Shawn was such an outgoing person and interacted so well with the scouts. Later we saw how he worked with Scouts and Scouters as Jim and I took leadership roles on the district committee. When Frederick County was broken up into 2 districts, we were with Appalachian District and didn't have as much contact with Shawn but began working with him again when Frederick County became one district again. Our son Christopher has fond memories of that 2001 National Jamboree. He considered coming back as a scout to be Senior Patrol Leader for the 2005 National Jamboree but decided to a staff member and was a staff member for the 2010 National Jamboree both working in boating. I believe that Shawn's influence as a leader as well as 2 other Francis Scout Scouters who were Jamboree staff influenced our son's decision to take on a leadership role at the National Jamboree.

Shawn was a wonderful and caring person. A true Scouter. He attended my Vigil induction ceremony. The world is a better place having people like Shawn as Leaders.

Shawn was an amazing man and a great example of what a Scouter should be. He provided me with wonderful guidance during my time as an OA Chapter Advisor. I will miss him greatly. My prayers to his family and all he touched during his life.

Shawn's love of scouting and service provided so much for the members of Troop 799. We will miss you and cherish the times we learned by playing as taught by Lord Baden-Powell and lived by Shawn. May the Lord be a comfort to the family knowing that Shawn is resting in the arms of his Lord!!!

A true friend, we constantly met as we worked in various areas of Scouting. Soon I realized his energy, commitment, and focus was on helping others learn and excel. He set a high standard many of us still strive to meet. Shawn, you will be sorely missed, it was my privilege to walk the trail with you. As another Scouter taught me long ago: "Hasta Luego, Via Con Dios" - " Until we meet again, go with God.

We loved our scouting adventures with Shawn. He came with us on a wilderness canoe trip to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota. Great guy! Wish we could be at the service.
