Jesse Brashears, Jr.

November 20, 1928 — December 17, 2016

Mr. Jesse H. Brashears, Jr., 88, of Frederick, known to many by his nickname "Cigar," passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016. He was the husband of Nancy Brashears for 60 years.

Born November 20, 1928 in Mt. Airy, he was the son of the late Lenora and Jesse H. Brashears, Sr.

In earlier years, he was a farmer and later became a milk truck driver, hauling for George Droneburg, Richard Rudy, and Clouse Trucking.

He was a life member of the 115th Infantry Co. A., and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan for many years.

Jesse had great love, dedication and devotion to his family. They were the first and foremost important thing to him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Deborah Rice (Jerry), Jesse Brashears, III, Rebecca Krolak (Dave), and Greg A. Brashears; five grandchildren, Scott Edmonds (Melissa), Randy Edmonds (Christine), Laura Brashears, Kathy Moran, and Jerry Blentlinger; seven great-grandchildren, Clayton, McKenzie, Destinee, Hailey, Hannah, Lacey, and Gregory; and one sister, Jessie Mary Oden.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Bernard, Martin, Stanley, and Robert Brashears; one sister, Viola Grabill; and one grandson, Gregory Brashears.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 22.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to an organization of one's choice.
