Malcolm Barger

Mr. Malcolm Barger, 84, of Homewood/Crumland Farms, Frederick, died Sunday, December 07, 2008. He was the husband of Pat Haller Barger, his wife of 56 years who preceded him in death in2003.

Born November 19, 1924, he was the son of the late Marshall E. and Claudia Mohler Barger.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. After the war, he was employed for several years with Litton Chevrolet of Brunswick as a parts manager, and then was a fireman for the railroad. He then spent 35 years as the Sales Manager of Industrial Products with the M.J. Grove Lime Co. of Frederick.

Following his retirement he was an avid golfer with the seniors group at Beaver Creek Country Club in Hagerstown. He also spent many hours as a tour guide with the Brunswick Railroad Museum. Many came to know him as Mac the Fireman.

Surviving are three sons, Laurence E. Barger and wife Patricia of Boonsboro, C. Jeffrey Barger and wife Brenda of Damascus, and Steven W. Barger and wife P.J. of Frederick; one daughter, Kay I . Etzler and husband Bill of Monrovia, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, C. Riley Barger and Marshall J. Barger; and two sisters, V. Deloris Barger, and N. Janice Good.



Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick.

Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 11:00 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 114 A St., Brunswick, with the Rev. Frank Fortkamp officiating.Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 114 A St., Brunswick, Md. 21716; Brunswick Railroad Museum, 40 West Potomac St., Brunswick, Md. 21716; or Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
