Agnes Howard Fabert

Mrs. Agnes Howard Fabert, 90, a longtime resident of Cary, NC. died Thursday, April 5 in Frederick, MD. She and her husband, Harry J. Fabert celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July. Born near Norwich, England on June 7, 1916, she was the daughter of Leonard and Laura Lemon Howard. Mrs. Fabert graduated from Suffolk Hospital School of Nursing in Ipswich, England and served as a nurse throughout World War II on the emergency evacuation unit of St. Andrews Hospital in Thorpe, England where she treated evacuees of the London blitz as well as English soldiers and POWs from Germany and Italy.

Mrs. Fabert met her husband Harry in Norwich, England. After the war he returned to England to marry her. They were stationed near Nuremburg, Germany where they observed the Nuremburg Trials. She assisted with child welfare projects in postwar Germany. Her husband's Air Force career took them to Washington, DC, Okinawa, Italy, Germany, North Carolina, and New Jersey. She was a founding member of TPBA, initially a war bride association, volunteered with the American Red Cross bloodmobile program, and was an avid birdwatcher and gardener.

She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite and husband Jeffrey Wilson of Braddock Heights, MD., son Milton and wife Carol Fabert of San Ramon, CA.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Olive Gibson of Norfolk, England. She is predeceased by a sister, Irene Hudson.

Services: A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14 at 4:30 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, 3313 Wade Ave., Raleigh, NC.
