Alice Murray
December 23, 1929 — March 4, 2017
Ms. Alice Maxine Murray, 87, of Rockville, passed away on March 4 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Born on December 23, 1929, she was a daughter of Holly Shamblin and Evelyn Cummings Shamblin.
Ms. Murray loved to sing in the choir. She was a member of the vespers group and was a longtime resident of The Bethany House. Alice was an avid reader and was very strong in her faith.
She is survived by her sisters: Edna Lyons, Sarah Hughes, Georgiann Bennett, Lois Melby and Kate Holmes and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Alice was preceded in death by 5 siblings.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7 from 10 to 11 AM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Boulevard, Mt. Airy. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
