Allan Douglas Eisel, son of the late Harry Eisel and Gwendolyn Eisel, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Debra Firth Eisel, as well as his parents and his sister, Susan Eisel.
He was born and raised in Frostburg, Maryland. A gifted athlete from an early age, Allan’s talent on the baseball field earned the attention of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Though recruited to pursue a professional baseball career, he chose instead to attend Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, on a full athletic scholarship, reflecting his family’s strong belief in the value of education.
Following college, Allan devoted his professional life to education. He spent many years teaching English in Montgomery County Public Schools, where he inspired students through his love of literature and learning. He also coached soccer at Damascus High School, mentoring young athletes both on and off the field.
Later, Allan joined the Montgomery County Public Schools central office, focusing on the training and development of new teachers as an administrator. He also served as a part-time instructor for Johns Hopkins University.
Outside of his career, Allan remained deeply connected to the passions that had shaped his life. He continued playing recreational baseball throughout his young adult years and was a talented singer whose rich bass voice was a cherished part of the choir at Damascus United Methodist Church. He loved music, enjoyed studying American history, and took pride in his conservative beliefs and political convictions.
He is survived by his daughters, Kirsten TenBrink (Remco) and Megan Bowman (Andrew); his grandchildren, Ethan Joan Arthur TenBrink, Chloe TenBrink Jones, Claire Vivian Bowman, Brooke Evelyn Bowman, and Sarah Catherine Bowman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Boulevard, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771.
