Allen Brown, Sr.

Allen G. Brown, Sr., age 80, of Mt. Airy, MD passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2023. 

He was the son of the late Preston Brown and Vida Brown-Fisher (nee Watkins), of Mt. Airy.

Allen was born in Frederick County on February 16, 1943. As a woodworker, he enjoyed building unique things, including the castle home he resided in. Allen was also well known for his musical talents that he graciously shared with the community. His former country band, "Allen Brown and the Wishing Wells", could be heard at local establishments and carnivals and was sure to draw a large crowd. He could also always be found volunteering at the Mt. Airy Fireman's Carnival. In Allen's later years, he enjoyed golfing, attending church and traveling with his late wife and close friends. He was a member of the Thurmont Church of the Brethren.

Allen is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Claudette Brown (nee Archer), brother Wayne Brown, parents Preston Brown and Vida Brown-Fisher and stepfather, Tom Fisher.

He is survived by sons, Allen Guynne Brown, Jr. (AG) and Arron Lee Brown; grandchildren, Marissa Elise Brown, Tara Nicole Brown and Gage Preston Brown; great-grandchildren, Gracelynn and Hayven, brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Sue Brown and many many friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 1:00pm-3:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, MD. 21771.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Home, Mt. Airy, MD at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
