Alta Fogle Willard

Alta Fogle Willard, 83, of Thurmont, Maryland, daughter of the late Calvin and Lillian Fogle passed from this life on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Frederick Crossing of Journey in Frederick, MD. Her husband of 64 years, Gideon Lee Willard passed away on March 26, 2024.

Alta was a stay at home mom who frequently enjoyed yard sales, flea markets and several vacations camping at the Woodsmen Festival in Potter County, PA. She especially enjoyed visiting camping friends and seeing the bears that frequented the campground. Alta delighted in preparing delicious meals and maintaining an immaculate household. She also enjoyed feeding wild birds, working in her flower garden and caring for stray cats who simply refused to move on from her warm and cuddly welcome. Everyone she met was greeted with a friendly smile. Alta will be remembered as a very kind and generous lady.

She is survived by Son, Rickey Lee Willard; granddaughter, Sarah Baker and husband Logan, and great granddaughter, Cora May; sisters, Emma Catherine Abrecht and Mary Ellen Crum and husband Gary and sisters in law, Betty Willard, Ella Raby and Barbara Willard and several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Herbert Abrecht, Lee Willard, Kenneth Willard, David Willard, Howard Willard and Steven Willard and sister-in-law Nancy Willard.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Thurmont), 104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD were a celebration of Alta's life journey will take place at 11 am. Rev. Tim May will officiate.

Interment will be at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Foxville, MD.
