Mr. Alton “Buster” Howard Ambush, Sr., 66, of Frederick, Maryland, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Rose Ann Brown Ambush, who was his devoted caregiver until God called him home.
Born on August 23, 1959, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Leroy Linwood Ambush, Sr., and Margaret Faustina Ambush of Adamstown, Maryland.
Alton was a dedicated person who loved life. After retiring in 2024, he proudly started his own lawn care business. He was known for his intelligence, energetic spirit, and incredible skill with his hands. Alton lived life to the fullest and especially loved listening to his “oldies but goodies.” He had a lifelong passion for cars-whether driving them or fixing them up-and was fondly known throughout the neighborhood as “The Mechanic.”
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children: Alton Howard Ambush, Jr. (Brooke) of Frederick, MD and Chelaya Summers (Curtis) of Brunswick MD; eight sisters: Sylvia Walker (Larry) of Belle Glade, FL; Iantha Weedon (Donald) of Adamstown MD; Sandra Ambush (Robert), Darlene Ambush, Tracey Dorsey (Rodney), and June Gassaway, all of Frederick; Fern Ambush of Gaithersburg MD; and Kimberly Ambush of Adamstown MD; one brother, Leroy Linwood Ambush, Jr. (Kim) of Frederick MD; a brother-in-law, Ernest Spriggs, Sr., two sisters-in-laws, Earlene and Mary Brown; three grandchildren, Dyvae Ambush, Kyrin Ambush, and Chanelle Lee; two step-sons, Shawn Brechenridge (Delonn) and Michael Brown; one step-daughter, Vanessa Brown; one aunt, June Hardy of Frederick; his best friends Duncan, Anthony Brown, David Chaney, Mike Hahn, Andre Jackson, John Lamm, Jeff Raymond, Russell Overs, Gretchen (Barry) Stanton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Troy Ambush Spriggs, paternal grandparents, Jesse Edward Ambush and Genevieve Smith Ambush; maternal grandparents, Lewis Edward Crumble, Naomi Mae Hill, and Carroll Hill; uncles Roger, George, John, and Foster Ambush, and Gerald Edward Crumble; aunts Juanita Ambush and Erma (Tot) Weedon; and a brother-in-law, Charles “Sonny” Gassaway, Sr.
A special thank-you is extended to Frederick Health Hospice for their compassionate care.
Buster will be remembered not only for the joy he brought into the world but for the love he gave so freely.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, with a celebration of life to begin at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
