Andrew E. Sidorick, Jr., 78, of Clarksburg, MD was taken into Heaven on April 24, 2021, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Andy was the beloved husband of Beverly Sidorick for almost 50 years.
He had just arrived at this facility but spent three months at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and three months at Western Maryland Hospital Center, recovering from a spinal cord injury with resultant quadriplegia sustained from a devastating fall.
He graduated from Clarion University with a degree in education and participated in intercollegiate football and baseball. After graduating, he moved to Arlington, VA where he began his teaching career. Soon after, he took a job at Magruder High School, where he taught science for over 35 years. Andy was a reputable varsity baseball, and junior varsity football coach for his entire career. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as well as an avid sports fan. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, family activities, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events. His hobbies included gardening and canning tomatoes, playing pinochle, and reading the sports page and other books. He will be remembered for his kind heart, nicknames, and his gregarious personality.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his two daughters, Kimberly Jordan and her husband Mike and daughter Emma of Frederick, MD; and Megan Mackey and her husband Rich and their children, Andi, Ally, and Richie. Andy was preceded in death by his brother Fred Sidorick.
