Angela Briefs

October 12, 1952 — March 30, 2026

Frederick

Angela Briefs passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She is now at peace, free from pain and suffering, and reunited with her beloved husband, Henry “Hank” Briefs.

Angela graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in Washington, D.C., and went on to attend college there. She began her career in Washington, D.C., working in secretarial roles with two law firms and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

After having her children, Angela chose to dedicate herself fully to her family as a stay-at-home mother. During that time, she also started her own daycare business, where she continued her lifelong passion for caring for others.

She later devoted over 20 years of her life as a caretaker with Home Instead, a career she truly loved. Angela had a natural gift for caring for others—she always put everyone before herself and treated those she cared for with kindness, dignity, and love. To many, she was more than a caregiver—she was an angel.

Angela was previously married to Ralph Ruiz, with whom she shared two beautiful children. Family was always at the center of her life, and she took great pride in being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

She had a special place in her heart for animals and throughout her life cared for many beloved pets, including both dogs and cats. She especially loved watching her daughter’s dogs, treating them as her own. She also found great joy in the holidays and loved decorating to make every moment feel warm and special for those around her.

Angela was incredibly giving, always putting others first and never expecting anything in return. Her kindness, generosity, and beautiful spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a truly good person who was taken far too soon.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kristina Khalili, and son-in-law, Porya Khalili; her cherished grandson, Arslan Khalili; her son, Michael Ruiz, and daughter-in-law, Anna Ruiz; her beloved granddaughters, Paisley and Heidi Ruiz; and her stepsons, Matt Metzger and Tony Ruiz.

She is also survived by her siblings, Larry Monahan, Patty Monahan, Joyce Wright, and Peter Monahan, who will miss her dearly.

Angela was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Hank” Briefs (2019).

She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Sami.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her loving heart, selflessness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
