Annalee was born November 26, 1944, at her home in Boonsboro, MD to the late Charles Edward Leggett and the late Anna Mae Souders Leggett. Anna Lee was the 3rd of 6 siblings and lived her life proudly in Boonsboro.
Annalee was a 1962 Graduate of Boonsboro High School. She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education as a school bus driver for 37 years with most of those years serving the Boonsboro/Keedysville area. Annalee dearly loved her bus students and treated them like family, often buying them birthday candy bars, holiday gifts and end of school year candy and soda. During her 37 years of driving her school bus, she made great friendships with students, their parents and multiple bus driver friends, maintaining those friendships to today. Annalee was an avid animal lover, loving all animals but especially her Boston Terrier, Zelda Mae. In her free time off the school bus, she loved working in her flower beds and spending time with her girls all while taking great pride in her home.
Annalee is survived by three daughters, Sherrie Herr Ellsworth and husband Gregg of Boonsboro, MD, Kellie Jo Shindle and husband Mark of Greencastle, PA, and Janell Herr of Maysville, NC; four grandchildren, Zachary Lynn Clopper and wife Rachel, Sadie Rowe, Kelsie Hensley and husband Corbin, and Jake Rowe; and three Great Grandsons, Magnus and Blaise Sharp and Tucker Enzo Clopper.
Annalee also is survived by two brothers, Bobbie Leggett (Susie) and Richard Leggett (Brenda). Also, by two sisters, Sallie Dorsey (Dennis) and Pennie Crabtree (David). Additionally, Annalee is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by sister and brother-in-law Ruth Shank (John).
Her late husband Kenny Herr passed away June 29, 2001. His ashes have been patiently awaiting those of Annalee Leggett Herr, the love of his life. The family is comforted knowing that they are once again together and we will be honoring her with a Celebration of Life on July 28, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Boonsboro Ambulance and Rescue for their compassion as well as the staff at Doey’s House for their exceptional dignity and care shown to Annalee during her final days.
