Anne J. Loftus, 76, of Frederick, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Daniel Loftus.
Born on August 26, 1949, at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, Anne was the daughter of the late James Hampton Jones, Jr. and Barbara (Ramsdell) Jones.
Anne attended Ursuline High School and graduated from Sacred Heart College, where she finished first in her class.
Anne enjoyed a distinguished professional career. She worked for several years at the Pentagon and ultimately served in the office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She later worked on Capitol Hill for Senator Richard Schweiker. Before retiring, Anne served as the manager of a nephrology practice in Frederick, Maryland. Throughout her career, she was known for her intelligence, professionalism, and genuine care for the people she worked with and served.
In addition to her husband, Daniel, Anne is survived by her daughters, Kate Boutin and Karen Loftus; her cherished granddaughter, Brooks, whom she adored and who brought immeasurable joy to her life; her sister, Frances Pratt and her husband Andy; Eugene Jones, Mark Jones, and his wife Karen, and Andy Jones and his wife Tonya. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Anne enjoyed many passions and hobbies including playing the piano, photography, gardening, cooking, including being a talented seamstress. She shared her love of music throughout her life and was a devoted member of choirs of several churches.
More than her accomplishments, Anne will be remembered for her kindness, strength, wit, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She touched countless lives through her grace, courage, and caring spirit. While her absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Anne's life will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland on Wednesday, June 10th at 11:00 am. Private burial to follow immediately. A reception will be held at the church hall.
“Thank you” cannot be overused to the many wonderful friends and family who knew Anne.
Anne was a very special person whose memory will be treasured forever. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
