Annette Gormsen Via, 73 died Sunday, November 26 after a 5-month battle with gastric cancer.  Her spunk, humor, and sassy spirit brought joy to so many and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Born on August 18,1944 in Marksville, LA, she was the daughter of the late Eric V. Gormsen, Sr. and Neddie Moreau Gormsen, formerly of Mansura, LA.  In 1978, she married the love of her life, David Via and began the adventure of being a military wife.  After moving from Georgia to Maryland to Germany and finally back to Frederick, Maryland again, Annette enjoyed retirement and became “Tutu” to her grandsons Gavin and Landon.

Annette is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, David Via of Middletown MD; their son Nick Via and his wife, Laura Via, and their children, Gavin and Landon Via of New Market MD; three sisters, Gail Gormsen Adams and Christine Ann Gormsen of Alexandria, LA, and Karen Gormsen Schrock of Deville, LA; and two brothers, Eric V. Gormsen, Jr. of Moreauville, LA and Eugene ("Gene") F. Gormsen of Mansura, LA.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Douglas Charles Gormsen of Pineville, LA.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road Burkittsville Rd, Middletown, MD.

In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Annette to: Gastric Cancer Foundation ; or Frederick Memorial Hospital- Cancer Care Services (Oncology) .
