Anne W. Cissel

Mrs. Anne W. Cissel, 71, of Thurmont, died on Friday, December 22, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Cissel who died in 1999.

Born on March 28, 1935, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa she was the daughter of the late Virgil Wayne and Jean Middleton Wittman. She was genealogist, operating her own company, Historic Research Associates. Anne was the main contributor to the Thurmont Historical Research Library. She was a published author and was very instrumental in putting together the Thurmont 250th Anniversary Book.

Surviving are 3 children: Gary Roland Cissel of Bedford, PA, C. Wayne Cissel and wife Robin of Monrovia and Connie Anne Cissel of Thurmont, MD; 4 grandchildren: Kevin Howard Cissel, Kyle Alexander Cissel, Karl Renzi Cissel and Justin Wade Cissel. Mrs. Cissel was preceded in death by a sisters, Ellen Heebee.

Services: The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Friday, December 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont where services will begin at 2:00 PM with Rev. Guy Kneebone of Mountian View Community Church, Urbana.

Interment will be private.
