Audrey (D’Orazio) Farnsworth, born July 19, 1938, in Schenectady, New York, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the cherished youngest child of Michael and Olga Kudzin D’Orazio, and the beloved sister of Constance M. D’Orazio Leishman Vickery and Norman D’Orazio, all of whom predeceased her.

Audrey was raised in Schenectady, where she attended the Burnt Hills–Ballston Lake Central School District. She went on to study at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York, where she began a lifelong commitment to learning, service, and leadership.

A passionate and dedicated educator, Audrey devoted her life to shaping young minds and strengthening the communities around her. Over the course of her distinguished career, she served as a teacher, principal, and ultimately superintendent. She was widely respected for her visionary leadership and her steadfast commitment to advancing STEM education. Audrey believed deeply in the transformative power of education to open doors and expand opportunity, and her influence continues to be felt in the countless students, teachers, and schools she inspired.

Above all, Audrey was a devoted and loving mother to her three daughters: Hilary Farnsworth (Judy), Gwen Crane (Don), and Pamela O’Neill (David), who were the center of her world. Later in life, she moved to Maryland to be closer to her five cherished grandchildren—Danielle, Kelsey, Kyle, Kara, and John—embracing every opportunity to be present in their lives and to celebrate their milestones and accomplishments. She also delighted in her three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Payton, and June, who brought her immeasurable joy.

In addition to her professional achievements, Audrey found deep fulfillment in the arts. She became an accomplished oil painter, and her work was featured in local art shows. Her paintings reflected not only her creativity and discipline, but also her keen eye for beauty and her appreciation of the world around her, leaving behind a vivid and lasting expression of her spirit.

Audrey will be remembered for her intelligence, strength, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her legacy of leadership, love, and lifelong learning will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
