Barbara Jo Cunningham

Mrs. Barbara Jo Cunningham of Mt. Airy, Maryland died on August 1, 2025 at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD

Born on November 27, 1933 in Tipton, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Cecil J. Farris and Lois Marie Ethridge Farris Brady. She was employed at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development as a Financial Management Specialist and at the National Institute on Aging as a Supervisory Grants Management Specialist in Bethesda, Maryland.

Surviving are her three children, Richard James Cunningham, Jr. (Terri) of Mt. Airy, MD; Joni Kay Grigsby (Ray) of Selbyville, DE; and John Robert Cunningham (Toni) of Olney, MD. She has eleven grandchildren: Stacy Santiago Jaffe, Lisa Neale, Cindi Johnson, Heather Kirker, Scott Grigsby, Shannon Grigsby, Steven Grigsby, Christie Charles, Laura Yellin, Jennifer Fritz, and Caitlin Cunningham; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Barbara Cunningham was preceded in death by her husband, Richard James Cunningham, Sr; daughter, Linda Marie Shaw; granddaughter, Angela Marie Santiago; and brother, Jimmie Lee Farris.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, Maryland where services will begin at 12 p.m.

Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mount Airy, MD.
