Barbara Fenstermacher Massey

Barbara Fenstermacher Massey, 96 of Frederick MD, previously of Damascus MD for 50 years, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Homewood of Frederick surrounded by her children. She was the wife of the late Clarence (Lee) Massey.

Born in Unionville, PA on November 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William C Sr and Esther Hall Fenstermacher.

Barbara graduated from nursing school in 1949, retiring as an RN from the Friends House in Olney MD in 1999. She was a member of Montgomery United Methodist Church in Damascus MD where she loved her church family and participating in bible studies.

She enjoyed spending time with her family most and the numerous visits from children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She liked doing puzzles and playing games in her spare time.

Barbara is survived by her two sons, Craig (Diane) and Tom (Shellie) and her two daughters Karen Kotewicz (Michael) and Suzanne Beasley (Travis); nine grandchildren, Kristin Kotewicz, Ricky Ponds (Korin), Allison Donahue (Alex), Nicole Ponds (Stephen), Taylor Massey (Austin), Jordan Massey, Brendan Massey (Marisa), Justin Massey (Megan), Ryan Kotewicz; seven great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; brother, William Fenstermacher; and sister, Joyce Parrett. She also considered Maria Lopez as a daughter, whom lived with the family for 1 year as a foreign exchange student from Argentina between 1974 and 1975, where the families continued to visit each other in their respective countries over the years.

She was preceded in death by her Son, Scott, Husband Lee, Sisters Mary Zell and Flora Jane, and brother Amos Fenstermacher.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 22 from 2 to 5 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick MD A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 23 at 11:00 AM at Montgomery United Methodist Church, 28325 Kemptown Rd, Damascus, MD, with a family visitation from 10 to 11 AM.

Interment will be at Montgomery United Methodist Church Cemetery.
