Barron Burch Jr.

Barron “Pat” Burch, Jr., 81 of Emmitsburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 17, 1943 and was the son of the late Barron Edward Burch, Sr. and Norma Henrietta Burch (Lilly). In his youth, he attended Saint Benedict church and school in Baltimore, Maryland before entering the Navy, in which he served from 1960 to 1964.

In his early adult life he worked for the State of Maryland as a Corrections Officer. After a few years, he changed course to pursue his love for the outdoors and moved his family to Frederick County to enjoy a career with the Maryland DNR Forestry service.

His family is forever grateful for the move from city living to country living!  He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, participated in marksmanship tournaments, and enjoyed playing pool with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Donna Burch. Together they had 2 children, son, Barron “Barry” Burch, III and wife Denise and daughter, Teresa “Terri” Pue and husband Mike.  His grandchildren are Derek Owens and wife Kaitlin, Alec Owens and wife Ashley, Diana Burch, Elizabeth Burch and Michael Pue, IV.  His great-grandchildren are Ori, Everen, Emma, Camden and almost-ready-to-arrive, Lylah.
 
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont, Maryland, 21788. A celebration of Pat’s life-journey will take place immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial services will be private per family’s wishes.
