Benjamin Hume McGaha, Jr.

Benjamin Hume McGaha Jr., 69, of Frederick, MD passed away November 21, 2025 @ FMH due to natural causes surrounded by his family. Benjamin “Benny” was born in Rockville, MD on August 16, 1956. He was the husband of Ann “Beth” Elizabeth McGaha who he was married to for 38 yrs. He was the son of Benjamin Hume McGaha Sr. and Mary Matilda “Maust” McGaha.

Benny was the owner of “McGaha Painting Inc” and painted houses in Frederick County and surrounding areas for 40 yrs. He was an active member of Independent Hose Co. in Frederick, where he volunteered his time and service for 51 yrs to Frederick County. He enjoyed playing on the softball team with his IHC “brothers” and helping pull the Hose Reel in many parades. Benny was known in his social groups as ”the life of the party” with a very iconic laugh, which he became known for. Benny also enjoyed NASCAR and going to the races. He loved watching sports like baseball, basketball and football. He also loved camping with his family and many neighbors throughout the years.

Benny leaves behind a daughter and son in law, Sarah Elizabeth “McGaha” Roberts and Luke A. Roberts of Knoxville, MD; two grandsons, Drew and Cameron Roberts; one sister Penny McGaha; four brothers Jeff, Frank, Buddy and Scott McGaha; and close friends David, Tommy, Eugene and many more.

Benny was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Mary McGaha, his wife Ann Elizabeth “Wagner” McGaha and his son Benjamin “Ben” Howard McGaha.

There will be a “Celebration Of Life” in honor of Benny on January 11, 2026 at Independence Hose Co., 310 Baughmans Ln. Frederick, MD 21702 with visitation at 1:00 and service at 2:00 followed by the gathering of friends and family to enjoy food and refreshments at IHC. The family suggests sending any memorial donations in Benny’s name at that time to Independent Hose Co.1.
