Bennie Earl Duncan Jr., 89, of Walkersville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
Born July 30, 1936, on his family farm, he was the eldest son of the late Bennie Earl Duncan, Sr. and Goldie Mae Young. He was the husband of Jean Ann Duncan who preceded him in death on January 19, 2026. They were married for over 67 years.
Earl grew up working on his family’s farm, learning the value of hard work, responsibility, and honesty. His life was devoted to his family, friends and farming.
He graduated from Walkersville High School in 1955 where he was a standout on the baseball team, earning an invitation to the Baltimore Orioles’ spring training. He began working at Southern States Farmers’ Cooperative in Woodsboro. In 1957 he met the love of his life at the Walkersville Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival, and they were married less than a year later.
Six months after marrying Jean, Earl was drafted into the U.S. Army. Three months after returning home, he was drafted again, ending his tour of duty in August of 1962. He remained in the reserves until 1965.
Earl returned to work at Southern States Farmers’ Cooperative and was promoted to manager of the Frederick location in 1965. He retired from his position in 1999, receiving numerous accolades for his service to the agricultural community.
Throughout his life, Earl had a love for music, performing in high school musicals and later singing at local churches and retirement centers.
In his retirement, he enjoyed full-time farming, traveling with Jean and spending time with the family.
He is survived by four children, Gregory Duncan and his wife, Debbie, of Walkersville, Kevin Duncan and his wife, Annette, of Frederick, Jeffrey Duncan and his wife, Rhonda, of Walkersville, and Diana Seymour and her husband, Robert, of Walkersville; grandchildren, Jeremy Blickenstaff, Amy and Matt Lyons, Cody and Christine Blickenstaff, Kobe Duncan and Kaitlyn Karazulas, Chelsea and Jeremy Lindsay, Gray Nelson, Jessica and Ryan Case, Bryan and Karin Nelson, Tanner Seymour and Audrey Lambert, and Myiah and Joey Edwards; great grandchildren, Dakota Lyons, Brody Blickenstaff, and Mara and Logan Lindsay.
He is also survived by siblings, Wayne Duncan and his wife, Nancy, Leo Duncan and his wife, Rebecca; and sister-in-law, Bobbi Duncan; many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by sister, Janet Fyock and husband, Michael; and brothers, Larry Duncan and Keith Duncan.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Chapel Lutheran Church, 11109 Daysville Road, Frederick, where services will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.
