Benny (Benedetto) Libert Canino, 87, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, peacefully at home.
Born on November 30, 1938, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Libert William Canino and the late Cora Marie Pfeil.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, having been married to the late Charlotte Elizabeth Canino for 68 years. Benny was a lifelong carpenter, retiring as superintendent from Samperton Construction Co., Bethesda. In 1995 he and Charlotte started two NASCAR businesses in Frederick, a retail store called Flag to Flag Racing and a wholesale distributorship Mid Atlantic Motorsports. He was proud to have been in partnership with his son in NASCAR late model stock car racing. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed being on leagues with his wife.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Reese and Marie Adair.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Michael W. Canino, Lillian C. Eakle, Christine L. Paul, Dea L. McDonough and Kimberly R. Canino, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, and brother, Francis Canino.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
Burial along with his wife Charlotte will take place at 2 pm on Friday, July 10 at Burkittsville Union Cemetery, 5 E. Cemetery Drive, Burkittsville, MD 21718.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Frederick Health Hospice, frederickhealthhospice.org.
