Bernard L. Long, born July 20, 1931, passed away Monday, March 18 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after suffering with lung cancer.  He was born in Westminster, MD to the late Harvey and Helen Phelps Long.  Mr. Long attended schools in Westminster and then entered the Army in 1951 during the Korean conflict. He was stationed in Germany as an MP and was discharged in l954.  Upon his return to home he worked at Fort Detrick until 1971 when he worked for the Dept. of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. and in Hyattsville, Md.  Bernie retired in 1988 and began working part time at Weis Markets in Frederick until he retired from that almost 20 years later.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Maisel Ritter Long, his children, Linda Aguado and husband Randolph (Randy); Timothy and wife Shelley of Williamsport, MD;  Bryan and wife Maura of Urbana, Md.  He is also survived by 4 grandchildren - Francesca Aguado-Murray and husband Robert of Hagerstown, Md.; Daniel Long and fiancé Leann Murray of Beckley, W. Va.; Chaz Aguado of Frederick, MD and Tyler Long of Williamsport, MD.

Bernard is also survived by two nephews, Norman Lee Long and wife Dolly of Westminster, MD. and Gary Long and wife Sally of Ellicott City, MD.   He is survived by several great nieces and nephews

Bernard was a member of Braddock Lutheran Church, Clifton Drive, Frederick and of the American Legion Post 11, Frederick, MD.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, March 21st from 5:00-8:30PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 22nd at 10:00am with Pastor Andrea Ernest and with Pastor Marina Flores officiating.

Contributions may be made in his name to the Braddock Lutheran Church, 6938 N. Clifton Rd., Frederick, MD 21702.

Following the service the entombment will be in the mausoleum at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
