Mrs. Bertha M. Thompson, 88 of Frederick, MD., died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late William L. Thompson. They were married July 20, 1938.

Born August 31, 1919 in Urbana, MD., she was the daughter of the late Elmer A. and Mildred Virginia Price Horman.

Mrs. Thompson was a lifetime member of the Hyattstown Christian Church (DOC) where she was an Elder, Vice Chairman of the Board, Choir Member, Disciple Member and Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Comus Homemakers Club, National and State of MD, Associate member of the Agriculture Center, AARP and the Rainbowbelles. She enjoyed cooking, crafting and embroidery work. Mrs. Thompson was a farmer's wife for many years until Mr. Thompson's retirement, in 1964 and was also the past owner of the National Trail Liquors in New Market.

She is survived by her son William L. Thompson, Jr. and wife Mary of Germantown, her daughters LTC Helen V. Thompson, USARNC, Ret. of Clarksburg, W VA, Bertha A. Abrecht and husband Grayson of Middletown and Becky M. Holdcraft and husband Richard of Frederick, Six grandchildren, Christine E. Monroe and husband Richard, Barbara A. Nixon and husband Clarence, Grayson M. Abrecht, III, Cheryl M. Hampton and husband Nicholas, Meredith A. Holdcraft and Patrick S. Holdcraft, two great grandchildren, Heather C. Monroe and Jennifer L. Delawder and husband Roy and two great great grandchildren, Jaylan E. and Dylan T. Delawder, her brothers Norman Horman and wife Doris of Frederick, George R. Horman and wife Margaret of Wheaton, MD, Ronald Horman and Donald Horman both of MN.

She was preceded in death by a brother Elmer Horman, Jr. and sisters Eunice Miller and Mary Ellen Lewis. She will also be missed by many family and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike Frederick, Sunday, September 23, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., where the family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm.

Services: Services will be held, in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 24, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Terry Resiter officiating.
Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
