Betty June Goode passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness and hospital stay. Betty was born in 1934 in Sterling, Virginia but has lived in a home with Community Living, Inc. since 1976. She was one of the first people supported by the agency. For the past 15 years, Betty also attended Community Living’s Retirement Our Way (ROW) program where she prowled the halls of the Community Living office telling anyone who would listen about the Red Sox or the neighbor’s noisy dog. In her early years, Betty worked at the Scott Key Center in Frederick.
Betty was an avid baseball fan and especially loved the Red Sox. She enjoyed attending Keys games and amassed a large baseball card collection throughout her life. Betty liked going out to eat, especially to Red Lobster where she would frequently enjoy a “near” beer.
Betty is survived by a sister, Peggy, and a brother, Jim, both of Virginia. She will be missed by many Community Living staff who have worked with her over the years and whose lives Betty has touched.
Services will be held on Friday, June 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The service will be officiated by Pastor Lynn Wilson of Trinity United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Living, Inc., 620B Research Court, Frederick, MD 21703.
