Brenda Marie Smith

Brenda Marie Gillis Smith, 79, of Mount Airy, Maryland passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Carroll Hospital Center.

Born on November 18, 1946, in Olney, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late James William Gillis and Betty Lee Stanley Gillis.

Brenda graduated from Damascus High School Class of ’46 and retired from a successful career in business administration. She enjoyed family life, horses, pets, and horticulture.

She is survived by her sister Patti Lee Gillis Mathes, two children son Richard Francis DeBlasio and daughter Melissa Ann DeBlassio Riner, three granddaughters Allison and Jessica Payne and Kaitlyn DeBlasio, and her husband of thirty one years Todd Barratt Smith.

She was predeceased by one grandson Brandon DeBlasio, the son of Richard DeBlasio.

Services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to a charity, for example the ASPCA or any Children’s Hospital.
