Brenda Lee Van Leeuwen, 70, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. Born on February 9, 1955, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Benjamin Lee Dodson and Jean Frances (Boswell) Dodson.
Brenda was a graduate of High Point High School, Class of 1973. She was an accountant for Laurel Sand and Gravel for many years, and worked at Certis USA until her retirement in 2020.
She loved Bingo and enjoyed playing Texas Hold 'Em Poker. Brenda loved traveling, and she and her family took many trips to Disney World. She also loved going to the horse races and Vegas. She has always been a big fan of the arts, she loved the theatre and all types of music.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Metz and husband Bubby, son Alan Van Leeuwen, daughter Yvonne Cassidy; grandchildren: Kerri and husband Bryant, Rachel and husband Jonathan, Rose, Chase, Bella, Kelsie and husband Billy, Danielle and wife Kayla, and Heather and husband Nick, Stacey; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Lillie, Kendall, Kaylie, Jazzmin, Noah, Aubree, Amber, Phillip, William, Jules, Charlie, and Eevalynn. She is also survived by her brothers: Benjamin Lee Dodson, Jr. and girlfriend Donna, Zan Michael Dodson and wife Connie, a sister, Linda McConahy as well as a number of nieces and nephews that she shared many memories with. She is also survived by her good friends/family George and Margaret Van Leeuwen as well as several other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 15 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, with a service immediately following at 3:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
