Sykesville

Brian Kevin Lawton, 53, of Sykesville, Maryland, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was surrounded by his wife and his family and received their blessings and love.

Born in Rochester, NY to William and Doris (Patrick) Lawton, Brian was raised in Summerhill, PA. He graduated from Bishop Carroll High School in 1988 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1993. It was there that he met his wife, Mindi, whom he married in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2013. He is survived by his wife of 32 years and his children, Briana Holdridge (Andrew) and Kevin Lawton, who were his joy. He also was a wonderful Pabbie to his only granddaughter, Skylar. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Andrew (Cara) and Daniel (Jen); several nieces and nephews; and grandnephews.

Anyone who met Brian, even for a minute, learned one thing about him: Brian was a runner. He was on the track team in high school and in college, and he continued that love of running with the Howard County Striders and the Eldersburg Rogue Runners. He even added quite a few more miles to his journey by running in Disney marathon and half marathon races, which he did with his family when they could keep up with him. It was his passion, his hobby, and next to his family, his life.

Brian also was the dog dad to quite a few furry children. He was preceded in death by Storm, Rush and Hershey, and was the current dad to Woods, Penny, Oaken and Rita. Due to his profession, he had the gift of working from home long before it was trendy, so he was able to spend his days with his dogs. He even had a path built inside their backyard fence, so he could teach them about his love of running.

Brian is loved and will be missed by so many. Immediate funeral arrangements are private, but a Celebration of Life will be planned for this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in his name, to Eldersburg Rogue Runners, PO Box 1726, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
