Burge Walker Burkett, Jr.

Burge W. Burkett, Jr., longtime resident of Ijamsville and Clarksburg, known to many as “Burke” made his journey to his heavenly home on Monday, February 20, 2023.  Son of the late Burge Walker Burkett, Sr. and Anna Magdalene Nevitt Burkett; best friend and husband of 48 years to Sharon; father to Torre (Eddie) and Keara (Jimmy); “Grampie” to Sofia, Brendan and E.J.; adopted sister and brother Barbara and Bob; much loved brother-in-law, Mickey, and wife, Joline; sisters-in law, Gay, and Susan; and many beloved nephews and nieces. He loved the Lord Jesus, his family both near and far, countless friends, and others as God loves the church. His compassion for all was limitless. We can say with confidence that Burge is now in heaven. He has a new body, free of illness and defect, and with loved ones he has long awaited to see again.  Burge is enjoying daily strolls on the streets of gold and soaking in all the glory of God’s heavenly kingdom. We love you, Daddy!  See you at the House!  A Celebration of a new life in heaven will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Greenridge Baptist Church, 21925 Frederick Road in Boyds, Maryland with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with services to follow. A time for fellowship will be held, at Greenridge, immediately following the service. Inurnment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Bible Society, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick.
