Carl Albert “Butch” Cline III passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024 with his family by his side.   


Born January 21, 1944 in Frederick, Maryland to Carl A. Cline Jr. and Georgia Gladhill.  


He was a graduate of Damascus High School Class of 1962 and attended University of Maryland.


 He is survived by his wife of 60 years Joyce, daughter, Debbie Cline Goundry; son -in- law, Matt Goundry and cherished grandson, Luke Goundry. In addition to his immediate family, Butch leaves behind sisters, Victoria Sabin and Molly Pritchett (Jerry) and many special nieces and nephews who will miss his humor.


 Butch was preceded in death by his father, Carl Cline Jr.; mother, Georgia Cornor; step-father, Paul Eugene Cornor; sister, Dale Griggs and nephew, Adam Pritchett.  


Butch worked as a Construction Superintendent at Kettler Brothers for 45 years involved in building the entire project of Montgomery Village, MD.


 After retirement from Kettler Brothers Butch got bored and returned  to work, working for his son-in-law at Ben Lewis Plumbing for the last 15 years where he made more friends who loved working with him till his passing.


Butch had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy throughout his life.   The most being his love for building and restoring Classic and Street Rod Cars - a passion that led him on many cross country travels to attend car shows.  Additionally during his younger years, Wednesday nights were reserved for his bowling league at Terrace Lanes.  He also played softball.  These hobbies brought him such joy with cherished friends with whom he shared unforgettable memories.  In his later years he enjoyed auctions, watching Lukes sporting events and spending time with family.


Family will receive friends Sunday January 28 2024  4:00pm - 6:00pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd.,  Mount Airy, MD  21771.


In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
