Carlton Robert Barnard

Carlton “Bob” Robert Barnard, 82, of Frederick, Maryland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, Maryland.

Born on April 10, 1944, in Myersdale, PA, he was the son of the late Carlton and Roberta (Rickter) Barnard. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in February of 2026, after two months and nine days being apart. They would have been married 52 years in August. He was also preceded in death by his older brother, Gene Barnard, of Salisbury, PA.

Bob was a graduate of Turkeyfoot Valley Area High School. He then proudly served in the United States Army followed by employment at DW Drywall for many, many years.

Bob was a member of the Francis Scott Key Post 11 American Legion and Moose Lodge 371, both in Frederick. A simple man, he enjoyed a variety of food, always eating as if he had never eaten before in his life with every meal. Coupled with his food, black coffee or a Coors Light could be seen in his hand. Bob enjoyed a variety of tv shows as well, such as Law and Order- SVU, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-O, and CSI-Miami. WWE and AEW were passions that he shared with his son, Bobby. Bob was a dedicated husband to his wife, and enjoyed spending quality time with her, his daughter, and his granddaughter.

He is survived by his children, Carolyn Lynn Shanholtz and boyfriend, Larry Miller, Robert “Bobby” Scott Barnard, and his granddaughter, Kayla Virginia Shanholtz. Bob was dearly loved by extended friends and family as well as by his fur-baby grandchildren: Raven, Mia, Jessie, Jackson, Riley, Jinx, Lucy, Jaybuck, Ruby, and Rosie.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.

A celebration of Bob's life journey will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the funeral home in Frederick with Rev. Dana Werts officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be held at 1 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park and Menorah Gardens in Rockville, MD.

The family is asking friends to please wear either red, white, or blue in honor of his time in the service.
