Carol Marie Barbour

Mrs. Carol Marie Barbour, 71, of Mt Airy, died on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy. She was the wife of Willard J. Barbour, her husband of 54 years.

Born on January 14, 1936 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Jessie I. Fowler Witte. She was a homemaker. Carol was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 191, Mt. Airy. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends at the Mt. Airy Senior Center, but most of all was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving in addition to her husband are 3 children, Carole Ann McCoy and husband Timothy of Longwood, FL, Douglas Wayne Barbour and wife Marlene of Mt. Airy and Willard Joseph Barbour of New Market; 6 grandchildren, Sean McCoy, Craig Barbour, Kathleen Barbour, Brett Barbour, Ian Barbour and John M. Winkler; a sister, Dorothy Dwyer of Silver Spring and a brother, Edwin Witte of Laurel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barbour was preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters, Edna Bonham, Billy Witte, Evelyn Linkins, Lois Much and Betty Shoemaker.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy.

Services: Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 5, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, with Rev. Susan E. Boehl of Prospect United Methodist Church, Mt. Airy, officiating. Entombment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
