Carolyn Joy McCall Brown

Carolyn Joy McCall Brown, 77, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, MD.

Born on November 30, 1948, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Virginia (Reynolds) Joy. Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Patrick McCall and also by her 2nd husband, Richard Brown.

She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1967.

Carolyn was employed by the Department of Energy. She retired and moved to Port Charlotte, FL but then returned to Maryland after a hurricane destroyed her antique shop. When back in Maryland, she created an online business selling antiques. She loved to dance, online shopping at flea markets and looking for estate sales. Christmas didn't start at the family home until Carolyn arrived, she loved it so much.

Carolyn will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her. She was generous, caring and was always there when needed.

She will be missed by her sister, Susan Sappington and her husband, Richard, of Frederick; special niece, Theresa Baum and husband, Bob, and their sons, Josh and Mark, of Lanham, MD; niece, Jackie Dohrmann of Charlotte, NC; nephew, Charles Stream and wife, Christine, of Lancaster, PA; and very special friend and sister of the heart, Gyla Crutchfield of Berkeley Springs, WV.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Melva Stream and Delores Anderson; niece, Jennifer Sappington; and her furbabies, Brown Bag, Sassy McCall and Sassy Joy.

Services will be private.

Her final wish was to ask that you dance to the tunes of The Righteous Brothers, Michael McDonald and Tom Jones and to remember her dancing away to her favorite songs.
