Carroll (Junior) grew up in Shenandoah, VA and graduated from Page County High School in 1962. Following his graduation, he relocated to Danville, VA and graduated from Danville Technical Institute. He enlisted in the Army on June 7, 1967, and was honorably discharged in April of 1973. Following his service, he worked at Control Data located in Rockville, MD, Value Engineering in Alexandria, VA and Comsat/Lockheed Martin in Clarksburg, MD where he felt like he never worked a day in his life. Carroll loved the job and all the friends he made during his career. After his retirement he worked part-time at Med One Pharmacy where he made many close friends.
He was a life-time member of the Brunswick Volunteer Ambulance, a member of Brunswick Eagles Aerie 1136; and served on the Ethics Committee for the Town of Brunswick. He played softball for the Brunswick Ambulance and the Frederick County Fire & Rescue. He loved his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren always put a smile on his face. Many unforgettable vacations were spent with Karen at Carroll’s favorite places especially Deep Creek Lake, Smith Mountain Lake and Ohio Pyles, PA. Carroll, or Coach Carroll as many people addressed him spent 47 years coaching Little League softball, Brunswick High softball and BJR football. If he wasn’t coaching, he was behind the camera taking pictures. Eleven years ago, Carroll, along with his friend Lonnie, reunited with the Danville Drafting and Design Group and bonded like the brothers they were - reliving memories over and over each time they were together.
