Catherine Louise Barry, 92, of Thurmont, Maryland, was received into the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 13, 2024, in Frederick, MD. Twice married, she was the wife of the late Austin Jennings Fogle, Sr. who died in 1967 and the late James Michael Barry who died in 1994.
Born on April 7, 1932, in Mapleville, Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Catherine E. (Reeder) Betts.
She was employed for 39 years as a caretaker at Trout Run Lodge, formally known as Little Hunting Creek Lodge in Thurmont, Maryland and was a life-long member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren. Louise was a devout Christian who loved fellowship and being surrounded by her family.
She is survived by two daughters, two sons, one step-son, and one step-daughter: Carolyn Louise Fogle; Glenda Lorine Earp; James Austin Fogle, Sr. and wife Susan; Austin Jennings Fogle II and wife Janet; Michael James Barry and wife Sandi; Donna Linkins and husband William; fifteen grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 24 great great grandchildren with a few on the way; sister Evelyn Miller; and two very dear friends, Jenny Bartgis and Charles (Chuck) Farmer. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Alvin Fogle, and his wife Darlene; son in-law Virgil Earp; sisters Edith Moss and Geraldine Staley; and brother in-laws Charlie Miller, Lee Moss, and Tom Moser.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD and 9:30 am on Friday, May 17.
A celebration of Catherine's life journey will take place at 10:30 am on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick. Pastor Lerry Fogle will officiate. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD.
Memorial donations may be made to the Frederick Church of the Brethren Deacon Fund.
