Catherine Crome

Catherine Crome, 72, of Woodsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, Maryland.

Born on November 20, 1953, in East Lansing, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Donald William Johnson and Dorothy Jean Johnson (Cook).

Catherine graduated from Thomas Johnson High School, class of 1971. She continued her education at Frederick Community College where she earned her Associate's Degree in Computer Science. She was a gifted programmer, working at Frederick Electronics, Digital Systems, and SAIC, but her real love of needlework guided her to open a local yarn shop, along with her sister. Keep Me In Stitches! was a dearly loved shop where Cathy’s gifts were shared with love and laughter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, David Crome, her children Matt, Michael Todd, and Peter. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Matthew, Mikayla, Konnor, Kyle, Brandon, Carlee, David, and Kaiden, and her siblings Nancy Jones, and Cindy Tymczyszyn.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her nephews Donald, David, and Douglas Strobel.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 40 Fulton Avenue in Walkersville, Maryland.

A celebration of Catherine's life journey will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Rev. Tim May will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Cathy’s love of animals, memorial donations may be made to Fetch Thrift Shop or Tip Me Frederick.
