Catherine "Kitty" Lowman

Catherine J. "Kitty" Lowman, 91, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Lorien in Mount Airy. She was the wife of the late Robert "Bobbie" Lowman who died in 2000.

Born on August 26, 1935, in Ridgeville, she was the daughter of the late Emily Watkins Burns.

She was a 1953 graduate of Mt. Airy High School. A 73 year member of the Auxiliary to the Mt Airy Vol. Fire Co., becoming a Life Member, Charter Member of Mt Airy American Legion Post 191 Auxiliary and Mt Airy Historical Society. Kitty was an avid duckpin bowler, loved to bake especially "Monkey Bread" for the kitchen help at the Fire Co. breakfasts. She loved watching the Orioles, family vacations at Deep Creek Lake and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are four children: Dale Lowman and Paulette, Lisa Smith and Michael, Cheri Dods and Michael, Gina Reisberg and Jim; five grandchildren: Jeffrey, Meghan and Jon, Ryan and Jessica, Derek and Vittoria, Chad and Alyssa; eight great-granddaughters: Danielle and Cherokee, Kaelyn, Emersyn, Avanna, Elizabeth, Emilia, Adalyn, Eyla; a brother, Charles "Nip" Burns and special friend Carol Wagner, her childhood friend Norma Buffington as well as numerous nieces and extended family. She was preceded in death by brother Courtney Burns, sister Yvonne Gosnell and niece Joyce Gosnell.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Monday, October 12 and from 10-11 AM on Tuesday October 13, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Mt. Airy, where a celebration of Kitty's life will begin at 11:00 AM. Doug Brice will officiate. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy.
