Celia Fraley

Celia Fraley,90, of Thurmont, Maryland, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 25, 2026 at her home in Thurmont, MD.

Born on July 10, 1935 in Thurmont, MD, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Ethel Stambaugh. She was the wife of the late Carroll N. Fraley. They were married for 67 years.

Celia was a member of Apples United Church of Christ. She sang in the choir, served on the church council and also played the piano for the church. For over 30 years Celia worked in Retail sales. She loved her job and loved traveling and visiting the ocean. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Celia was a graduate of Thurmont High School, class of 1953.

She is survived by two sons, Timothy Fraley and wife, Angela, and Thomas Fraley and wife, Shelly; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Timothy Robert, Dakotah, Jacob, Colton, and Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Frances Clem, Charles Stambaugh, Doris Warthen, Lyman Stambaugh and Lois Late.

The family will receive friends from 6 -8 pm on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.

A funeral service will take place at 11am Tuesday, June 2, 2026 in the funeral home chapel at Stauffer Funeral Home, Thurmont. Rev. Tim May will officiate. 

Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to hospice of Frederick Co., www.frederickhealthhospice.org.
