Charles Grover Dabbs, Sr., 83, of Frederick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Kline Hospice House.
Born June 23, 1942, in Kensington, MD, he was the son of the late George Albert and Elsie (McCoy) Dabbs. Charles was the husband of Paula L. Dabbs, his loving wife of 65 years.
Charles was proud to serve at Rockville Fire Department Station 23, where he dedicated countless hours as an active member for 27 years. His love for the fire department ran deep and fellow firefighters were among his greatest joys. He was truly the heart of the community; always ready with a smile, story and a helping hand. Charles also enjoyed collecting firetrucks and was rarely seen without a firefighter T-shirt from one of the many stations he visited over the years. His collection reflected not just his love for firefighting, but also the friendships he built overtime.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his daughter Donna M. Dabbs, son Charles G. Dabbs Jr., son James M. Dabbs and daughter Tracy L. Dabbs. He is also survived by his six grandchildren; Alexis, Tyler, and Brandon Dabbs, Daniel J. Kidwell, Kristina Carter and Michael Mccollough.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025,at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Viers Mill Rd., Rockville, MD 20853.
