Charles Bowman Raybuck Jr, 77, passed from this life on Monday, June 23, 2025, at his home in Jefferson, Maryland. He was the beloved husband of Verna Raybuck for 24 years.

The son of the late Charles Bowman Raybuck and Sarah (Bean) Raybuck, Charles (Charlie) was born on April 29,1948 in University Park, Md. He was a child survivor of polio. The Raybuck family moved from Maryland to Alexandria, VA in 1952. There, Charlie attended St. Mary’s grade school and Ascension Academy. He went on to attend Pfeiffer College in North Carolina.

Charlie proudly served his country in Korea with the US Army. After his military service, he attended the Woodstock Music Fair and hitch-hiked across the country, before moving to the island of Kauai in Hawaii. He returned to Virginia in 1977 where he eventually met his beloved wife Verna (Tad) Raybuck. They married and moved to Jefferson, MD in August 2001.

Charlie worked for the Marriot Corporation at Dulles airport until his recent retirement.

He was active in the Narcotics Anonymous community as a committed member and a sponsor.

In addition to his wife, Verna Raybuck, Charlie is survived by his siblings: John Raybuck and his wife Shirley, MaryAnn Raybuck, Lynnie Raybuck, Connie Kincheloe and her husband Joe, his nieces and nephews, along with Bean family, his brother-in-law Cary Wight, and many loving friends from all eras of his life.

Charlie was perhaps best known for his gentle spirit and his kindness. He had a deep love of nature and took joy and excitement in planting his spring gardens. The family would like to thank his NA community, his neighbors and friends, and his trusted team at the VA Hospital for their care and support in difficult times.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Avenue, Brunswick, MD.

A brief graveside service will take place at 3 PM on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025 at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA.
